About

Maksym Molchanov is the founder of ToxicTraders and a forex trader based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He has worked in forex markets since 2013, with a focus on trading macroeconomic releases, execution quality and transparent performance reporting.

He began with stop orders and early automated news-trading tools on MetaTrader 4. His experience now spans manual research, automated execution, broker testing, latency-sensitive strategies and the development of an integrated workspace for news traders.

From news auto-clickers to ToxicTraders

Learning through first results and first mistakes

Maksym started with a $100 MT4 account and an automated news clicker, making about $300 in cumulative profit during the first two months. The period brought an early +200% trade at FXPro, but also hard lessons about broker due diligence, oversized positions, spread expansion and stop-outs.

Broker research and execution adaptation

Trading developed positively as he expanded the broker pool and learned how execution, slippage, changing spreads and dealer-side controls could alter an otherwise valid news signal.

A detour into latency arbitrage — and a return to news

After several news-data services disappeared, Maksym paused news trading and explored latency arbitrage. Although effective in short bursts, he found the model operationally fragile and dispute-prone. In summer 2022, unusually large post-release reactions brought him back to news trading while his family was relocating from Ukraine to Canada.

Rapid expansion followed by the most important loss

At the peak, he traded nearly every major release and tested as many as 50 brokers. Conflicting indicators during US ISM Services on October 3 and CPI with Initial Jobless Claims on October 10, 2024 produced two severe losses. The lesson was permanent: when simultaneous releases cannot be controlled, the correct trade can be no trade.

Building the system that had been missing

He focused on ToxicTraders: broker data, historical release analysis, tick and second charts, live signals, account state, orders and reporting in one workspace. He returned to active trading in May 2026 with smaller sizing, explicit conflict prevention and a stronger educational mission.

Current principles

  • Skip releases with uncontrollable indicator conflicts.
  • Reduce size when the release itself carries elevated reversal risk.
  • Measure execution speed and spread expansion, not only slippage.
  • Use real quotes and repeatable historical reactions when teaching a setup.
